I am sorry to hear you are going through this but there are so many successful treatments out there. I went through breast cancer recently but only had to do radiation and no chemo. I found the cancer center I went to was fantastic. They were very kind and their reputation was top notch. They will most likely have a number of professionals meet with you and help you every step of the way. Mine had a support group and there was nutritional help along with many other programs. Take advantage of anything they offer that will benefit you. Hang in there and we will be thinking of you.

HANDLING CHEMOTHERAPY - Advice anyone?
by hamsterbait ini have just been diagnosed with colorectal cancer (tuesday).. the consultant told me i am to get a scan to see how far it has spread.. i am going to have surgery to remove it, then chemotherapy with a break in the middle.. strange to say i am more terrified of dying under the anesthetic than anything.
but i have a fear of nausea and vomiting, which chemo caused in all my relatives who have had it.. any advice for coping with this?.

Elder and CO just dropped by....
by El_Guapo ini haven't been to a meeting in over a year, and as you know as soon as you stop attending meetings/fieldservice the "conditional" love becomes more apperant.
the coordinating elder starts off by saying how much he loves and misses me, etc.
i ask him, when was the last time you called or texted me?

That is funny because the exact thing happened to us. We faded 18 months ago and they stopped by last year when the CO was visiting the cong and then came by last Saturday again. Neither time we answered but your answer was perfect. Because of what you said you may get some invitations but I double it because our local needs were always hospitality and it never changed. The elders never had people into their homes.

Jon, have you read Crisis of Conscience? My husband and I faded 18 months ago together. The first book I read was by Diane Wilson called "Awakening of a Jehovah's Witness: Escape from the Watchtower Society". This is an excellent book especially for women because it shows how they have treated women and so many other basic things. Then I read a book by David Reed and after that I found COC. I have since read many other books on this subject but I was able to get my husband to read COC and that woke him up very quickly. It wasn't until I read COC that I realized there were all of these great sites out here to get support and help. I wish you the best in getting her out.

Avoid or call them back?
by Angus Beef indaughter missed a call from an elder tonight...we've missed meetings for about a month now.
she is dating a worldly guy and i'm sure someone has seen them together.
makes us nervous and with us being fairly new to the fading facet... should she call or avoid.
-
Aunt Fancy
Avoid. We have had phone calls and a few stop by to visit but we never answer the phone or the door. We never just open our door to anyone now and always look to see who it is. I won't play their games and they have no control over my life. At this point I could care less what they do because we are making a new life without them.

The Cult of N. Korea--Frontline's Secret State of North Korea compare to WTBTS--discussion
by FlyingHighNow indid any of you see this program on pbs?
did you see how dangerously similar n. korea is to the wtbts?
did you notice one huge difference, that north koreans are not brainwashed like most still active jws are?

I watched this too and I have read about 6 books on North Korea. I remember reading the books along with books on the FLDS, Amish and Scientologists and I kept feeling the same way while reading them. Boy, they sure are like the Witnesses. There were a number of things that helped me wake up and this was one of them. I realized I too was brainwashed like they are.
The treatment of the people who live there is unbelievable and also there are excellent books by former prisoners about the treatment they received. They have a very large population that are in prison and many are born in there and will never be free.
I found these books excellent: Escape from Camp 14, The Aquariums of Pyongyang, Long Road Home: Testimony of a North Korean Camp Survivor, there were a couple more but I can't remember them. I also read the book by Laura Ling - Somewhere Inside: One Sister's Captivity in North Korea and Euna Lee's book The World is Bigger Now: An American Journalist's Release from Captivity in North Korea.

This night a dream made me cry
by Gorbatchov inthis night was a painful one.
i had a very emotional dream and woke up realise that i was crying emotional.. in my dream my past 43 years did go by with all my close family and ended abruptly after i had to tell my paralyzed brother that we were the only two left and that our parents died.. because he can't talk, he only could express himself with his facial expression in his small room of an institute.
it seems something is going on with me, it feels painful and i think it has to do something with our believe background.. wish me luck to deal l with it.. gorby.

They can be very unsettling and can mess with your head for awhile. Try to get out and do something to distract you to get your mind off of it. You will soon forget what it was about. Just remember it is only a dream.

Inaccurate hours recorded
by snare&racket inignoring the fact that all but the super jw's had a random stab at hours done in the ministry, with all the different activities the society said counted as ministry hours, just how accurate is there annual report?.
what activities do you know of that were allowed to be counted as ministry time?
here are some i knew of.... .

There was a time when you could not count quick builds and then they started to let pioneers do it if their trade was requested and the same with an elder. My husband was requested because he was on the committee but he would never count his hours, he just didn't feel it was right. Now they find any little thing. I knew one pioneer that would get on FB every morning and write out the daily text or some other topic and I knew she was starting her time before she left for the FS meeting. The COBE was a pioneer along with his wife were from NYC and they moved about two hours away. They would go to NYC on weekends and they would start their time when they left their house and drop off brochures or magazines along the way to keep their time going! If that isn't a joke.
